Senior Java Developer Contract (Home based)

Must be able to travel to London for interview and be able to attend meetings minimum 1 day a week in London; due to the project we will need a 5 year checkable UK work history.

The Senior Java Developer with strong architecture experience will be working for a well funded insurance start-up in direct to consumer motor insurance. They have decided to develop there own in-house system the Senior Java Developer will be working in a Greenfield role to develop / build the new system from the ground up (architecture).

The Senior Java Developer will be using cutting edge Java and web technologies, successful applicants will have the opportunity to be involved at the early stage in the company’s development by helping to define the design and architecture of the system. As well as the shaping and direction of the company the successful Senior Java Developer will be able to pick up some very useful general business skills and interact with end users directly.

• Hands-on application development
• Web application architecture, design and development
• Java 5 or 6
• Database development (data modelling, SQL, accessing databases from Java)
• Hibernate
• Process flows (workflow management)
• JSP
• My SQL 5+
• J2EE programming & design, both web based (Servlet, Tag libraries)

Advantageous: Open source experience such as: SEAM, Glassfish, Apache etc WebServcies, CSS, Agile, Network Operations Centre (HP Openview Operations Centre, BMC Performance Manager, Microsoft etc)

Soft skills: Excellent English communication skills, Initiative and pro-active self starter, people management, ability to work well on their own, good Interpersonal skills, structured problem solver, friendly and happy personality and strong interest in IT.
