Job Description

The purpose of the production supervisor is to manage the production department of Castle Welding. This enables the managing director to concentrate on talking to customers and generally being the face of the company. The position is essential to maintain the right first time, every time mission statement. The position is key for this small unique company whose workforce comprises of a small band of completely diverse individuals.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Quality Control
To ensure that all jobs in the factory are quality checked at all stages. Ensuring work is checked and compared to available information (verbal, written and drawn). Ensure errors are minimised through ongoing training, and that errors are caught before progressing onto the next stage of production. Ensuring that customers receive a first class product every time.
Planning & Scheduling
To oversee the planning and scheduling of all work in the three areas, Tooling, Fabrication and Installation. Visible scheduling using white boards backed up with electronic scheduling. Scheduling staff, managing holiday requests and overtime necessities using bespoke software linked to Outlook.
Labour Recording
Checking all time records via the bespoke time tracking system “Speedtrack” (“Timesheets” and “Job Cards” are maintained via the use of a mobile phone system of texting. Records are reviewed on-line and form the basis of job costing and payroll records)
Job Costing
Track material and labour costs through job costing. Using system templates recording all job costing comparing actual to quotation where appropriate and providing base information for billing purposes. This will lead onto assistance in the quoting process.
Staff Management
Primary responsibility for punctuality, discipline and appraisals of staff. Assisting in recruitment of staff

Management Meetings
Recording and reviewing jobs during and after production in order to report to the management team.
