MRICS Senior Rating Surveyor/Associate The Position: Property taxation is a growing core service with the Firm, where they have a first class reputation and are seeking to recruit a enthusiastic rating surveyor for their Manchester office. Main Responsibilities: To provide rating advice on a wide range of properties on differing bases to private and public sector clients predominantly throughout the North West of England. Within an overall remit to drive the rating business forward. Associate Level: Negotiations directly on behalf of clients with VOA over rating assessments, reaching settlements wherever possible, but taking cases to the Valuation Tribunal and/or the Lands Tribunal where necessary. Undertaking the preparation of tenders and bids, including giving presentations, in respect of 2010 Rating Revaluation work for/to existing and potential corporate clients, undertaking reviews of assessments reached in prior Revaluations where necessary. Senior Surveyor Level: 1) Providing key clients with services covering rating valuation appeals, rates reliefs, rates management and rates audits. Managing the relationship with key clients. Agreeing, achieving and surpassing billing targets. Key Attributes and Qualifications (depending on level of experience) A detailed understanding and knowledge of rating issues, particularly the ability to use relevant comparable information to support and justify rating appeals, presenting these in a concise form both verbally and in writing, and operating within tight deadlines. Prior experience of dealing with the VOA, not only achieving settlements, but building effective relationships. Good client management skills. Must possess the ability to identify and exploit cross-selling opportunities. Must be well-organised and capable of managing a large volume of instructions effectively, with little day-to-day direct supervision. MRICS Qualified Good computer skills Full driving licence. Personal Attributes Well organised with excellent planning, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. Good personal and professional manner in dealing with client contacts at all levels. Salary and benefits Salary: competitive based on market, professional experience and qualifications.
