Based in West Berkshire, our client is an IT Solutions company enjoying continued success and growth. Due to their expansion, the company's Research & Development Department has a requirement for a further Software Tester, ideally from a Distribution Accounting background. This is a great opportunity to join a rapidly growing team environment, where you will participate in the testing of a variety of software development projects. You will gain experience across the full development lifecycle, working on testing enhancements to existing applications as well as taking on new development projects.

Software Tester – Accounting: MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

• To develop and maintain documentation and associated scripts in relation to the Quality Assurance testing of the application system, the environment and both existing and new operating systems.

• To test, assess and maintain the quality of the product.

• To form part of a team that ensures that the product application maintains the position as market leading position.

• Ensure Core product and customer specific releases are tested on a regular basis according to the product release schedule.

• Work with the Product Release Manager development consultants and developers on the creation, maintenance and execution of manual test scripts

• Make full use of internal systems, include the use of activity logging and the completion of test issues on the internal issues database

• Assist with all aspects of system documentation and ensure that the system and test documentation is updated correctly

• To advise colleagues, when appropriate, in the remedial action needed to resolve system errors and deficiencies, documenting any changes recommended

• To cover for colleagues, as and when required, in all areas where knowledge overlaps.

Software Tester – Accounting : SPECIAL CONDITIONS & PERSONAL SKILLS REQUIRED

• The role may involve travel within the UK and overseas.

• A valid driving licence is essential.

• Strong interpersonal skills to interact with diverse groups of individuals; able to maintain effective work relationships

• Able to work under pressure with limited time, direction and guidance with a pragmatic approach to complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner.

Software Tester – Accounting : KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

• Strong business distribution accounting background.

• Industry knowledge – experience of one or more Distribution is preferred although candidates with a strong and varied background in testing will be seriously considered.

• Ideally 3 years’ experience of manual testing in a similar business environment or IT related education

• Experience of a variety of testing practices is essential, manual/automation/Continuous Integration/Agile and preference will be given to candidates holding a certification in testing such as ISEB or proven good testing practices course attendance.

• Any experience of testing automation such as QTP or working knowledge of HP QC a distinct advantage

• Working knowledge of Development methodology such as Waterfall/Agile valued

• Familiarity with micro/minicomputer concepts and systems (UNIX, Linux, Windows, and applications such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project)
