Our client is a specialist supplier to the shipping industry, with activities ranging from cargo trading to the supply of bunker fuels and lubricants and other services of crucial importance to the shipping industry at competitive prices. Having recently established a trading office in Beverley (E Yorkshire) they are now looking to strengthen their team by recruiting a Trainee Trader/Commercial Analyst. The ideal candidate for this role will have already worked in, and have a background in ships agency/customs brokerage, and be familiar with shipping terminology. This role may also suit a proactive Graduate with a relevant business degree, hungry to learn and looking to start their career in the shipping industry. It is an essential requirement for this role that the successful candidate possesses excellent IT skills, is experienced in the use of Microsoft Excel pivot tables, and handling large and complex spreadsheets. Some experience of SAGE packages would also be preferable, but is not essential. Analysis of trading activity, and providing reliable commercial and management information will form the bulk of the tasks for this role. In this role you will work together with the trading team providing essential commercial analysis and support, whilst at the same time, with support and training becoming familiar with the wider role of the company’s activities which will lead to the opportunity for career enhancement for the right person.
