Typically, this person will be an experienced Mig welder with experience on ship repair Day to day duties and responsibilities of the Marine Engineer: Perform MIG welding on ships, including hulls and structural components. Read and interpret technical drawings and follow welding specifications. Repair and modify ship structures to meet MOD standards. Work with materials like steel, aluminium, and stainless steel. Ensure welds pass non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections. Operate and maintain MIG welding equipment safely. Follow health, safety, and security protocols in a marine environment. Requirements Of the Marine Engineer: Proven experience in MIG welding, preferably in marine or defence. Welding certification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent). Strong understanding of welding techniques and metallurgy. Experience working with military contracts is a plus. Ability to work from complex technical drawings. Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
